All Shall Pass (2021) for alto saxophone and live electronics

ca. 6'00"

All Shall Pass is a multimedia work written for alto saxophone and live electronics. Fragments from a hymn that my dad used to sing me when I was a kid are played by the saxophone, while in the background footage of present-day Hong Kong recorded by a VHS camcorder is projected. The flickering video shown at the end of the piece is the image created when the camcorder plays an empty, unrecorded tape. Today will become history, but how we face tomorrow when nothing seems to be eternal is what matters.

Sam Au-Yeung, alto saxophone; Aaron Chung, live electronics
