About Me

Aaron Chung (鍾天瀚), a Hong Kong native, creates music rooted in his personal reflection and the cultural fabric of his home city. His works are characterized by spacious soundscapes and stillness that invite contemplation, often unfolding through the gradual evolution of musical ideas. He strives to create sonic environments in which sounds grow and transform organically. Spanning both acoustic and electroacoustic works for varied instrumentation, his compositions have been featured at the World Saxophone Congress (China and Spain), Hong Kong International Saxophone Symposium, soundSCAPE Festival (Italy), and Cleveland Chamber Symphony’s NEOSonicFall.

Aaron studied composition at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, earning a B.A. in Music and an MMus in Composition, before completing a Master of Music in Composition at Bowling Green State University. His teachers include Mikel Kuehn, Marilyn Shrude, Christopher Dietz, Wendy Lee, Mark Engebretson, and Alejandro Rutty. He has received the David Gwilt Composition Prize, the HKSAR Talent Development Scholarship, and the Peter Curzon Oram Charitable Trust Scholarship.

Aaron is currently based in Toronto, Canada.
